Advance online registration for hands-on workshops is available at store.wigardenexpo.com through Feb. 6. During Garden Expo, registrations for remaining workshop openings will be taken at the Wisconsin Public Television booth.
Workshop fees include instruction and supplies. General admission ticket and parking must be purchased separately.

The Creative Vegetable Gardener
Starting your own seeds allows you to start the vegetable gardening season early, save money, and grow unique and fun varieties that are difficult to find elsewhere. This class will help you master the essentials such as understanding what vegetables should be grown from seed and when they can be started, demonstrate an easy to assemble seedling rack, help you gather the right supplies, explain how to care for your seedlings, and recommend unique and colorful varieties to grow in your garden. You'll even start some seeds to take home! (2 hrs.)

Herbalist Linda Conroy will lead participants through the process of making an infused oil, a salve, a tincture and an herbal syrup. Everyone will take home one of each remedy. (2 hrs.)

Learn how to grow your own Shiitake log that will be capable of producing fresh Shiitake mushrooms for up to 8 years! You will then get to take home this log as well as the materials you will need to plant more logs on your own. (1.5 hrs.)

In this hands-on workshop make and take home a natural bug repellent and a healing hand scrub for gardeners. Discover how essential oils can bring your garden to a chemical-free state while benefiting your own health. We will talk about non-toxic options for bug and weed control, skin support and more. Additional handouts for recipes you can use in your garden and home will also be provided. (1 hr.)
