Cascade hops are so easy to grow in our region. One of the first early risers of the growing season. It has light prickly hairs on the vines, making it easy maintenance if you tie strings on the trellis (horizontal and vertical support). Very, very lemony scent makes it a joy to work with.
I have a recommendation for a little-known product: Al’s Flower Pouches. They are perforated plastic bags that act like hanging baskets for fence posts. Plant your favorite annuals and lie them flat for a few days to root, then hang them on a fence or railing for extra color! This photo is from early summer.
Enjoy what you create!
Enjoy the beauty.
“My Funny Valentine” daylily. My most vigorous grower and my favorite beauty.
Dahlias were awesome last year (2020).
This is where I grew up in Sumpter Township in Sauk County, farm started in 1861.
Not a plant, but hunting in my winter garden this week. Long Eared Owl 😁
Neighborhood gardens are the best. They have plants that grow well in your area. When you walk by a neighbor working in the garden, be sure to thank and compliment them for making your walk pleasant. You will probably get a tour and leave with plants for your garden. That’s how I got started.
