This is the squash harvest in September from Forest County Armstrong Creek. It’s primarily hubbard, but also kabocha and buttercup winter squash.
This is just one of my many roses that I grow in my garden every year! I was told that roses don’t grow up here…yeah, well…they do!
It’s all a learning experience. And what a wonderful life to be able to spend it in a garden, and watch your hard work grow. I wanted to find a label that says: made with back and knee aches, sunburn, cuts, scrape, bug bite, bee and wasp stings, sweaty, dirty nails, eye irritations, unkown rash, rotor tiller burns, mud stain, exhaustion and I loved every minute of it. And will do it again next year.

Working on getting the invasive stuff off the land and uncovering great surprises like these beautiful wild crocus from spring 2020.
I am president of the Wisconsin-Illinois Lily Society and belong to local Hosta, daffodil, and dahlia societies as well. I am also a judge for the NGC flower show and the Chicago Ohara ikebana groups. I grow natives as well as decorative plants in my garden.
My Grandmother has passed her love of gardening on to me throughout the years. Her grandmother was also a master gardener. This Hibiscus that my grandmother gifted me last year is one of my favorite plants for so many reasons. What a joy it is to share this hobby with those we love.
A simple daisy brings me peace.
I’ve gone to all raised beds for my vegetable garden, with a drip watering system. It has been amazing how much produce I get from my beds and how little weeding needs to be done. I use organic methods and heirloom seeds. Since I have bad knees, the raised beds have made gardening fun again!
