We are the Badger State Dahlia Society, based in Madison, Wisconsin. Our club is a local branch of the American Dahlia Society, and our location makes us part of the Midwest Dahlia Conference.
Since our first annual show in 1946, our club members have been passionate about bringing together both novice and experienced growers to promote the growing and exhibition of this fun, versatile flower.
Madison Area Permaculture Guild & PermacultureWorks offer opportunities, in community, for learning about the sustainable living practices of permaculture design, from food forest gardening to agroforestry, including water management and pollinator habitats, and efficient energy use. We offer fun and educational events and guild meetings throughout the year.
We have a wide variety of books on sustainable gardening & living available at our booth. In addition, we have homemade beeswax food wraps and wool dish scrubbies to start you on your path to removing toxic plastics from you food stream. We also have mushroom logs plugged with Shiitake or Blue Dolphin Oyster spawn, and a craft space to make a native bee house to support pollinators in your garden.
Located on 94 acres of restored native prairies and cultivated gardens, Folklore Village offers a wide variety of participatory heritage arts experiences, including workshops creating objects from sustainable, natural materials; and in foraging, herbal practices, fermentation, and cooking in our restaurant-quality kitchen. The mission of the Wisconsin Purple Martin Association (WPMA) is to restore and preserve the Purple Martin populations across Wisconsin. The WPMA works to achieve our mission through education programs. Our organization offers public meetings, free site evaluations, paid memberships, a statewide mentor program, managed public colonies, quarterly newsletters, and an annual MartinFest public event.
We help other Wisconsin nonprofits get access to clean energy through the donation of solar panels for a new solar array. We support our grant programs through the sale of solar panels and our CSF Solar Canopy, an innovative, beautifully functional solar system for residents, commercial and public spaces.
To broaden the base of state residents who help Eastern Bluebirds and native cavity nesters by erecting, maintaining and monitoring nest boxes.
